Police have arrested a man identified as Harish for allegedly luring an 18-year-old pre-university student into a relationship under false pretenses, sexually assaulting her, and abandoning her upon discovering her pregnancy.
The accused befriended the victim, who was a minor at the time, by offering her rides from her home to college, gradually building trust that led to a romantic involvement. The couple reportedly married in May 2025 and relocated to a rental house near Dasarahalli Metro Station in Bengaluru. There, the woman endured ongoing sexual assault and abuse, according to details from the police complaint.
Four months into her pregnancy, Harish vanished, leaving the victim to return to her mother's home alone. She gave birth to a baby boy on April 12, 2026, but the infant tragically died shortly afterward due to health complications. This devastating sequence of events prompted the woman to file a formal complaint against Harish, charging him with deception, sexual assault, and abandonment.

Bengaluru police swiftly acted on the complaint, apprehending Harish and initiating a detailed investigation into the allegations. The case highlights recurring patterns of exploitation targeting young women in the city, often involving false promises of love and commitment. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to thorough probes in such sensitive matters to ensure justice.
Such incidents underscore broader concerns about the safety of female students in urban India, particularly those in pre-university colleges navigating independence. While specific legal outcomes remain pending, the arrest serves as a reminder of the legal repercussions for crimes involving coercion and abandonment. The investigation continues as police gather further evidence.
