In a harrowing robbery attempt that unfolded on the outskirts of Bengaluru, businessman Amar Narayanaswamy was brutally stabbed by his former employee, Jayanth, before managing a desperate escape—only to be chased down and attacked again in a chilling display of violence. The incident occurred on November 14, 2025, in the Kumbalagodu area near the Sulekere BDA Layout, where Narayanaswamy, who runs a Lord Ganesh idol manufacturing unit in Kanchanapura, had been lured under false pretences. Jayanth, a 23-year-old who briefly worked at the factory for three days in June 2025, approached the victim on November 13, posing as a helpful acquaintance offering to assist in purchasing a Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) site. Police have launched a manhunt for Jayanth, who fled the scene on a motorcycle after snatching Narayanaswamy's gold chain.
The assault began during their return journey in Narayanaswamy's Thar jeep, with Jayanth seated in the back. According to the FIR filed at the Kumbalagodu police station, the accused suddenly grabbed the victim's gold chain, sparking a struggle that escalated into a frenzied knife attack. Narayanaswamy sustained severe injuries to his neck, face, shoulder, forehead, and head, bleeding profusely as he fought back. In a bid for survival, he wrenched open the vehicle door and fled on foot, clambering onto the back of a passing mini-lorry in a frantic attempt to reach safety. The chase intensified when Jayanth pursued him relentlessly, yanking him off the lorry and stabbing him once more in the back before making off with the valuables.
Narayanaswamy, in his mid-40s and a respected figure in Bengaluru's artisan community for his eco-friendly idol production ahead of festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Doctors described his condition as critical but stable, crediting his quick thinking during the escape for preventing a fatal outcome. The attack has shocked the local business enclave, where such daylight robberies tied to past employment grudges are rare, though police note a rise in opportunistic crimes amid economic pressures on young workers like Jayanth, who hails from a nearby village and has no prior criminal record.

Authorities are investigating potential motives beyond robbery, including personal vendettas from his short-lived tenure at the factory, though initial leads point to financial desperation. CCTV footage from the BDA layout and surrounding roads is being reviewed, while forensic teams scour the site for the discarded weapon and blood traces. The Kumbalagodu police have appealed for public tips, assuring anonymity, as they intensify patrols in industrial zones to avert similar incidents. Narayanaswamy's family has urged swift justice, highlighting the vulnerabilities faced by small-scale entrepreneurs in semi-urban fringes of India's Silicon Valley.
