Bank of Baroda, in partnership with Reliance Jio, has launched a new lightweight mobile banking platform called Bob World Lite, aimed at bringing digital banking services to feature phone users across India. The initiative is designed to expand financial inclusion, particularly in semi-urban and rural regions, by enabling access to essential banking features on low-cost, keypad-based devices.
The announcement was made on Monday, introducing Bob World Lite as a simplified version of the bank’s existing mobile banking app. The platform has been specifically optimised for feature phones, using a low-bandwidth architecture and keypad-based navigation to ensure smooth usability even in areas with limited internet connectivity.
The new service will first be available on the JioPhone Prima 4G series. The app can be downloaded from the JioStore for existing users, while future feature phones from Jio are expected to come with Bob World Lite pre-installed on the home screen, making access more seamless for first-time users.

Bob World Lite offers a range of core digital banking functions, including UPI-based “Scan & Pay”, money transfers, bill payments, mobile recharges, and account profile management. The bank has also indicated that additional features will be introduced over time to further expand the platform’s capabilities.
Importantly, the app is not limited to Bank of Baroda customers alone. While existing customers can immediately use the service, users from other banks will also be able to access its features through a self-onboarding process, broadening its reach beyond the bank’s existing customer base.
The collaboration between Bank of Baroda and Jio reflects a broader push toward digitising financial services in India’s underserved markets. By targeting feature phone users, the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and provide secure, accessible banking tools to millions who may not yet use smartphones.
