Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the Green Hydrogen Summit-2025 at SRM University-AP, declaring Amaravati as India’s “Green Hydrogen Valley” to lead the nation’s clean energy revolution. The two-day summit, held on July 18-19, brought together global experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to advance research, development, and commercialization of green hydrogen, aligning with India’s National Hydrogen Mission targeting 5 million metric tonnes (mmt) by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
Naidu emphasized Andhra Pradesh’s potential, citing its Integrated Clean Energy Policy, which aims to attract ₹10 lakh crore in investments and create 7.5 lakh jobs. He highlighted the state’s 1,000-km coastline, solar, wind, and pumped storage resources, and plans for port infrastructure every 50 km to support green hydrogen and ammonia exports. “We want to prove clean energy can be scalable and profitable,” Naidu said, announcing two major MoUs worth ₹51,000 crore: Yamna (UK) will invest ₹16,000 crore in a 1 mmtpa green ammonia project at Krishnapatnam, and JKSH-Hynfra will invest ₹35,000 crore for a 150 ktpa green hydrogen and 600 ktpa green ammonia project at Machilipatnam, creating over 10,500 jobs.
NITI Aayog member V.K. Saraswat delivered a keynote on green hydrogen’s role in achieving a carbon-neutral future, while Union Minister Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani stressed scalable production through robust policies. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand emphasized the need for specialized skills, noting SRM University-AP’s role in fostering innovation. The university’s Pro-Chancellor, P. Sathyanarayanan, announced a new Department of Energy Engineering and an Innovation Centre for Green Hydrogen Technologies, stating, “The next generation must lead the clean energy revolution.”
