A rare political gathering brought Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi into the same frame at a wedding reception in New Delhi, alongside several other prominent leaders from across the political spectrum. The high-profile event was held at 6 Janpath to celebrate the marriage of Revati Sule, daughter of NCP leader Supriya Sule, and Nagpur-based industrialist Sarang Lakhani.
The reception brought together leaders who are usually seen on opposite sides of Parliament and electoral politics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, NCP founder Sharad Pawar, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Praful Patel were among the prominent figures who attended the gathering. The couple had married in Mumbai in June, with the Delhi event serving as a grand reception.
Amit Shah was among the first prominent guests to meet the newlyweds. Supriya Sule was seen gesturing towards the Home Minister before he walked onto the stage, where he greeted the couple with folded hands. The newlyweds sought his blessings before Shah presented them with a bouquet, as photographers captured the moment.

Soon afterwards, Rahul Gandhi arrived with his mother Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi. Supriya Sule escorted the Gandhi family onto the stage and arranged them alongside the newlyweds for photographs. Sonia Gandhi exchanged greetings with guests before joining the couple, while Rahul and Priyanka stood on either side, creating one of the evening’s most photographed moments.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met Sharad Pawar and his wife before joining them on stage to congratulate the newlyweds. Several other senior leaders attended the reception, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Chirag Paswan, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Ramdas Athawale and Giriraj Singh, along with Congress leaders Deepender Hooda, Renuka Chowdhury and Amrinder Singh Raja Warring.
The gathering also featured former Union Minister Smriti Irani, Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma and Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha. Leaders from different political parties were seen exchanging pleasantries, sharing tables and engaging in informal conversations. Sonia Gandhi was also seen meeting Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at his table, underscoring the unusual cross-party gathering at a family celebration.
