On an Air India flight AI 2807 from New Delhi to Bengaluru, a medical emergency unfolded when a female passenger suffered severe nosebleeding, described as "extremely distressing" by fellow traveler Mario da Penha. In a detailed post on X, da Penha recounted the incident, highlighting the professionalism of the cabin crew who swiftly intervened. The flight attendants, equipped with surgical gloves, provided immediate medical assistance, managed the situation with composure, and ensured medical waste was handled appropriately, maintaining safety and hygiene onboard.
The pilot played a critical role by expediting the flight’s arrival, landing at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru 16 minutes ahead of schedule. This allowed a waiting doctor to board the aircraft promptly and provide urgent care to the affected passenger. Da Penha emphasized the crew’s calm and efficient response under pressure, noting their ability to balance medical attention with maintaining order on the flight, ensuring the situation did not escalate further.
Da Penha’s post on X expressed deep gratitude to both the Air India crew and Bengaluru airport staff for their coordinated efforts. He acknowledged the often-unseen dedication required to ensure passenger safety, stating, “A lot of patience and skill goes into ensuring safety on board flights, much of which is unappreciated.” He concluded by wishing the passenger a speedy recovery, underscoring the airline’s effective handling of the crisis as a testament to their training and professionalism.
