Seven people were killed in a road accident involving multiple vehicles in the Hosakote area on the outskirts of Bengaluru late on Wednesday, police said. The crash occurred in Hosakote, a busy transit corridor that connects Bengaluru with parts of eastern Karnataka and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. Preliminary information indicates that several vehicles were involved in the collision, though officials are yet to confirm the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal accident.
Emergency services rushed to the spot after receiving alerts from passers-by. Local police, fire personnel, and ambulances were deployed to rescue those trapped in the wreckage and to clear the road. All seven victims were declared dead at the scene or while being taken to nearby hospitals, according to officials familiar with the matter.

Authorities said traffic movement on the stretch was disrupted for several hours as rescue operations and preliminary investigations were carried out. Vehicles damaged in the collision were removed using cranes, and traffic was gradually restored under police supervision. The identities of the deceased have not yet been officially released, pending notification of their families.
While the precise cause of the accident is still under investigation, officials said factors such as high speed, poor visibility, or driver error could not be ruled out at this stage. A detailed inspection of the vehicles involved and CCTV footage from nearby areas is expected to aid the probe.
Road accidents remain a major concern in and around Bengaluru, particularly on high-speed arterial roads and highway-linked stretches like Hosakote. Police have repeatedly urged motorists to adhere to speed limits, avoid reckless driving, and exercise caution, especially during late-night and early-morning hours.
