The fervor for Deepotsav 2025, Ayodhya’s grand celebration of Lord Ram’s return after his 14-year exile, has reached unprecedented heights, with the Ram Mandir Trust reporting near-full online bookings for darshan until October 29. Set to illuminate the city on October 20, this annual spectacle, renowned for lighting lakhs of diyas along the Saryu River and at sacred sites, is drawing devotees from India and beyond. The festival, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, has solidified Ayodhya’s status as a global spiritual hub, with preparations in full swing for a record-breaking ninth edition.
The Ram Mandir Trust has issued approximately 300 online and 3,000 offline VIP passes daily to manage the influx of pilgrims seeking darshan of Ram Lalla and the Raja Ram Darbar. Slots for both morning and evening aarti are fully booked, with separate online bookings for Ram Darbar sold out until November 29, reopening at midnight on October 29. The overwhelming demand has flooded the Trust’s helpline with inquiries, reflecting the deep devotion and global anticipation surrounding the event, which recreates the legendary welcome of Ram, Sita, and Lakshman as depicted in the Ramayana.
Ayodhya’s hospitality sector is equally stretched, with hotels reporting complete occupancy for the festival week, particularly October 18 and 19. Local hotelier Vishal Ganjoor noted, “All our rooms are fully booked till the end of this month,” underscoring the city’s tourism boom. The festival’s allure, amplified by intricate lighting, Ramayana-themed tableaux, and cultural displays, has turned Ayodhya into a vibrant pilgrimage destination, with authorities bolstering security and crowd management to ensure a seamless experience.
