As IndiGo’s unprecedented flight crisis entered its sixth day with over 1,000 cancellations, actors Sonu Sood and Vir Das made passionate appeals on Saturday urging frustrated passengers not to vent their anger on helpless ground staff and cabin crew. Viral videos of passengers shouting at airline employees have flooded social media, prompting celebrities to intervene with messages of empathy.
Sonu Sood, whose own family endured a five-hour delay, posted a heartfelt video asking for kindness. “They are carrying the weight of cancellations too. They are helpless—they only communicate what they’re told. It’s our responsibility to support them, not react,” he said, sharing that missed meetings and events are painful, painful, but the frontline staff bear no blame.
Comedian Vir Das was more direct, calling on IndiGo’s senior leadership to step up. “The decent thing to do? The entire senior management—from CEOs to VPs—should take shifts at the counters. The decision-makers, not terrified junior employees and cabin crew who have no power,” he wrote on X, highlighting the fear and abuse faced by ground personnel.

The appeals come as airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad remain chaotic, with long queues, no hotel vouchers for many, and passengers sleeping on floors. IndiGo has attributed the meltdown to poor planning ahead of stricter crew duty norms, while the government has eased some regulations temporarily and warned against fare hikes.
Both Sood’s and Das’s messages quickly went viral, earning praise for humanising the crisis and reminding travellers that the real frustration should be directed at systemic failures, not the staff caught in the middle.
