The collapse of a water tank in Tadkeshwar village has triggered a political debate in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, with opposition leaders questioning the quality of construction and government oversight. The tank reportedly collapsed during a testing phase, raising concerns about the safety and standards followed in public infrastructure projects.
During Question Hour in the Assembly, Anant Patel, a Congress MLA from the Vansda Assembly constituency, raised the issue and sought clarification from the state government about the incident. He also asked whether the contractor responsible for building the collapsed tank was involved in other similar projects across the state and referred to previous reports of water tank collapses in Valsad and Navsari.
Responding to the questions, Gujarat’s Minister of State for Water Supply and Water Resources Ishwarsinh Patel informed the Assembly that the government had recovered ₹1.04 crore from the contractor following the collapse. The project was constructed by Jayanti Super Construction Private Limited (JSCPL), a firm based in Mehsana.

The minister further clarified that the same construction company, along with its joint ventures, is currently involved in seven other projects in Gujarat. However, he assured the assembly that the government is closely monitoring the quality and progress of these projects to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The incident has intensified scrutiny over infrastructure quality and contractor accountability in the state, with opposition members urging stricter oversight to ensure that public safety is not compromised in government-funded construction works.
