Bollywood star Suniel Shetty reflected on his iconic role as Captain Bhairon Singh in the 1997 war drama Border, admitting he misses being part of its sequel, Border 2, as his character was killed in action. However, Shetty remains connected to the franchise through his son, Ahan Shetty, who joins the ensemble cast alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh.
Speaking at the launch of the track “Jaate Hue Lamhon” from Border 2, Suniel shared, “When you die for the country, it feels good. But if I were alive in ‘Border’, I would have been part of ‘Border 2’. I always had this itch to wear the uniform again.” The song is a remake from the original film’s soundtrack and features in the upcoming sequel set to release on January 23.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 brings back Sunny Deol while introducing a new generation of actors, including Ahan Shetty. Suniel expressed gratitude to the filmmakers for giving his son the opportunity, noting that Ahan’s work is based on talent rather than legacy, following his debut in the 2021 film Tadap.

Reports suggest Suniel may appear in a digitally de-aged cameo alongside original co-stars Akshaye Khanna and Sudesh Berry, keeping a connection to the original film alive. The veteran actor described Border as a “career-defining film” and recalled the challenge of portraying a real-life character, emphasizing its emotional significance in his life.
The sequel also features Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana in pivotal roles. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films, Border 2 aims to blend nostalgia with fresh storytelling, paying tribute to India’s wartime heroes while launching a new generation of talent.
Ahan Shetty, visibly emotional during the song launch, described the project as “incredibly special” and expressed gratitude toward his parents and co-actors for supporting his journey in Bollywood.
