Bollywood actor Soha Ali Khan and jewellery designer Saba Pataudi honoured their late father, legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, on his death anniversary with heartfelt social media tributes. Mansoor, fondly known as Tiger Pataudi, passed away on September 22, 2011, at 70 due to a lung infection.
The former Indian cricket team captain, celebrated for his leadership and skill, was posthumously awarded the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001, the highest honour bestowed by the BCCI on a former player.
Soha shared an emotional Instagram post on Monday, featuring a photo frame of her father adorned with candles and flowers, accompanied by a note reading, “To Mr. Tiger.” Happy Barsie! I love you! You are very funny, joyful, and cool, and you have a big heart!” Her caption, “Today and always, my Abba,” reflected her enduring love. Mansoor, who led India in 40 of his 46 Test matches, remains an icon in Indian cricket, particularly for his resilience after losing vision in one eye early in his career.
Saba, a jewellery designer and mutawalli of the Auqaf-e-Shahi, posted pictures on Instagram, writing, “In my heart always and forever. Remembering you… I can feel your presence watching over me, guiding and protective.” She highlighted a Quran khwani and saqda held in his honour, noting her pride in continuing his legacy. Saba also mentioned that their efforts recently earned a first-prize award, believing her father would be “very chuffed” with the achievement.
