Actor Rajesh Kumar has opened up about one of the most challenging phases of his life, recalling the financial struggles he faced after stepping away from acting at the height of his career to pursue farming. The Sarabhai vs Sarabhai actor revealed that the decision led to heavy losses, forcing him to sell his car, deal with mounting debts and face difficult interactions with recovery agents before returning to the entertainment industry in 2022.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Rajesh said he took a break from acting at the age of 42 to explore farming, but the venture did not succeed as expected. He described the five-year period away from acting as a major turning point that changed his perspective on life. The actor said the experience made him more grounded and helped him understand the struggles faced by ordinary people.

Recalling the financial difficulties, Rajesh said he faced trouble repaying his dues and received abusive calls from credit card recovery agents. He shared that one recovery agent would contact the watchman's cabin near his residence and speak harshly because he was unable to make payments. The actor also revealed that he sold his car and eventually gave his last vehicle to farmers in Nashik after being unable to clear payments owed to them.

Despite the hardships, Rajesh said the difficult period became one of the most valuable learning experiences of his life. He explained that living through uncertainty and financial struggles helped him develop a deeper understanding of human emotions. According to the actor, those experiences later reflected in his performances, allowing him to connect more naturally with a wide range of characters.

Rajesh said the challenges he faced helped him become "more human" and, in turn, a better actor. He believes that personal experiences, especially during difficult times, shape an individual's character and influence their understanding of people and situations. After making his comeback, he began receiving diverse roles and found that his life experiences helped him bring greater depth to his performances.

Rajesh is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming film Ohh My Dog, directed by Amit Rai. The movie, which explores the emotional bond between humans and their pets, also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Pawan Malhotra and Geeta Agrawal Sharma. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on August 7.
