After years of anticipation and controversies, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit has finally received an official release date. The director announced that the film starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri will release in theatres on March 5, 2027. The announcement comes after a long wait since the film made headlines for its casting changes and production updates in 2025.

On the occasion of the New Year, Vanga delighted fans by unveiling the first-look poster of Spirit. The poster, shared at midnight, features a shirtless Prabhas with visible bruises and bandages across his back, shoulders, and hands, evoking a raw and intense energy reminiscent of Vanga’s earlier film, Animal. Triptii Dimri is seen lighting Prabhas’s cigarette, adding to the poster’s edgy aesthetic.

The first look immediately grabbed attention on social media. Prabhas, sporting long hair, a thick beard, and a moustache, shared the poster with the caption: “Here’s the first poster of #Spirit.” Fans compared his rugged look to Ranbir Kapoor’s appearance in Animal, highlighting Vanga’s signature style of portraying raw and larger-than-life characters.

Spirit is written, edited, and directed by Vanga, and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar, and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga. The makers plan to release the film not only in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam but also internationally in Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean, reflecting the film’s pan-Indian and global ambitions.

The film’s journey has been closely followed by the media. Last year, Deepika Padukone exited the project reportedly due to work-hour demands, leading to widespread speculation. Without naming her, Vanga addressed the matter on social media, and Triptii Dimri was later cast, reprising her collaboration with the director after Animal (2023).

In addition to the visual excitement, the filmmakers released an audio teaser in five Indian languages on Prabhas’s 46th birthday last year. With its high-profile cast, Vanga’s directorial vision, and global release strategy, Spirit is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of 2027, promising action, drama, and a visually striking cinematic experience.
