A case has been registered in Sangli against music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal following allegations of cheating and making caste-based remarks, according to police and complaint details. The complaint has been filed by social worker and actor-producer Vignyan Mane under provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act along with sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
As per the complaint, Vignyan Mane—who is also a childhood friend of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s former fiancé—alleged that Palash Muchhal took ₹25 lakh from him in 2024, promising returns through investment in a film project titled Nazariya. He has claimed that despite completion of the project, the money was not returned despite repeated follow-ups.
The complainant further alleged that during a meeting held on November 22, 2025, in Sangli, he and his associates confronted Muchhal regarding the repayment. He claimed that during this interaction, the accused made objectionable and caste-based remarks about a particular community, which he later included in his formal FIR.
