Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai maintained its lead at the box office on its first Monday, comfortably outperforming Bandar in their ongoing theatrical clash. Despite receiving mixed reactions from critics and audiences, the family entertainer continued to attract viewers and added Rs 3.5 crore to its India net collection on day four. The film has now amassed Rs 27.5 crore in India net and crossed Rs 42 crore worldwide.
Directed by David Dhawan, the romantic comedy opened with a solid Rs 7.5 crore on Friday and maintained the same figure on Saturday before climbing to Rs 9 crore on Sunday. Although collections dipped on Monday, the film retained a healthy hold and continued its successful first-week run. Overseas markets also contributed Rs 1 crore on Monday, helping its global total reach Rs 42.43 crore.
The film stars Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles, with supporting performances from Jimmy Shergill, Mouni Roy, and Maniesh Paul. The film's family-friendly appeal appears to be helping it maintain momentum despite stiff competition at the ticket window.

Meanwhile, Bandar witnessed a much slower run on its first Monday. The legal crime drama earned Rs 30 lakh across 924 shows, taking its total India net collection to Rs 2.75 crore. While the film showed some growth over the weekend, Monday's figures reflected the challenges of competing against a mainstream commercial entertainer.
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film features Bobby Deol in the lead role alongside Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Sapna Pabbi and Raj B. Shetty. Although Bandar generated significant industry buzz following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025, its box office performance currently trails far behind Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which earned nearly ten times more than its rival on Monday.
