Diljit Dosanjh has reacted after his film “Satluj” was removed from ZEE5 in India just two days after its release, saying that once something reaches the internet, it cannot be completely erased. The actor and singer addressed fans during an Instagram Live session early Monday, thanking them for their support and asking those who had already watched or downloaded the film to share it with people who had not yet seen it.
During the live session, Diljit said the removal of the film had happened even sooner than he expected. He revealed that he had feared “Satluj” could be taken down by Monday and said this concern was one of the reasons the team chose not to promote the film before its online release. According to him, releasing the film without a major promotional campaign allowed it to reach audiences before it was removed.
Diljit said he was pleased that the film had started conversations about human-rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, whose story forms the central focus of “Satluj”. He claimed that young people and families were now discussing Khalra and his work. “You can trouble me as much as you want. I am with Punjab till the day I die,” Diljit said while reaffirming his connection with the state.

The actor also expressed relief that the film had reached viewers before being pulled from the streaming platform. He said many people had already downloaded it and argued that content cannot truly disappear once it has been released online. Diljit referred to a video from Rajasthan showing people watching the film and said he was happy to see audiences continuing to engage with the story.
“Satluj” had faced a prolonged battle over censor approval before eventually being released for streaming. The film was removed from ZEE5 in India two days later, prompting widespread discussion among fans. The streaming platform said the film would remain unavailable in India until further notice while it explored appropriate avenues through due process to bring it back to audiences.
The film is based on events from one of the darkest periods in Punjab’s recent history, when civilians allegedly disappeared and were cremated without their families being informed. Diljit portrays Jaswant Singh Khalra, the human-rights activist known for documenting alleged disappearances and secret cremations. Following the film’s removal, Diljit has continued to urge viewers to keep discussing Khalra’s story.
