Actor Rajesh Sharma has reportedly been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata after his health deteriorated following a suspected insect bite during the shoot of Prabhas-starrer “Fauji” at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The actor is said to be undergoing treatment in the hospital’s Critical Care Unit and remains under close medical supervision. Following reports of his condition, the All Indian Cine Workers Association has demanded an immediate and transparent investigation into the incident.
The association, led by its President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, urged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to order a high-level probe into the circumstances surrounding Sharma’s medical emergency. The cine workers’ body said the investigation should determine the exact cause of the actor’s illness and examine whether proper workplace safety, hygiene and emergency medical protocols were followed on the film set.
The association also raised questions about the medical response provided after Sharma’s condition reportedly became serious. It asked why the actor was not immediately admitted to a leading hospital in Hyderabad and whether adequate emergency medical assistance was available at the shooting location. The body also sought clarity on what happened at the set and whether any delay or lapse contributed to the deterioration of Sharma’s health.

Calling for accountability, the association said strict legal action should be taken if the investigation finds negligence by the producer, production house or any other responsible authority. It said no individual or production company should be exempt from accountability regardless of the film’s scale or budget. The organisation also demanded that the producer and production house bear the complete cost of Sharma’s treatment and ensure he receives the best possible medical care until his recovery.
Sharma was reportedly bitten by an insect while filming “Fauji” at Ramoji Film City but did not immediately realise the seriousness of the incident. He later returned to Kolkata for another shooting assignment, where his condition reportedly worsened. The actor was subsequently admitted to a private hospital and moved to critical care as doctors continued to monitor and treat him.
Rajesh Sharma is known for his work in both Hindi and Bengali cinema and has appeared in several acclaimed films over the years. His notable Hindi projects include “Khosla Ka Ghosla”, “Ishqiya”, “No One Killed Jessica”, “The Dirty Picture”, “Special 26”, “Tanu Weds Manu Returns”, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, “M.S.
