Border 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the 1997 war classic Border, has delivered a thunderous opening at the Indian box office, storming past the ₹100 crore mark within just three days of its release. Headlined by Sunny Deol, the film has emerged as the first Hindi release of 2026 to enter the coveted ₹100 crore club, underlining its strong mass appeal and robust word-of-mouth.
According to the trade tracking platform Sacnilk, Border 2 earned ₹30 crore on Friday, followed by ₹36.5 crore on Saturday. The film witnessed a massive surge on Sunday, collecting ₹54.5 crore, marking a 49.32 percent jump in daily earnings. With this, the film’s total domestic box office collection now stands at ₹121 crore after its opening weekend.
The impressive three-day haul makes Border 2 Sunny Deol’s second-highest-grossing film to date. It has comfortably surpassed the opening weekend collections of Jaat, which stood at ₹88.72 crore. The film has also outperformed Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which had earned ₹103 crore in its first three days, further cementing Border 2’s dominance at the box office.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh attributed the film’s strong performance to sustained audience interest and positive reception across key markets. He noted that mass circuits have been performing exceptionally well, with several theaters reportedly running at near-full capacity. Urban centers, which showed moderate traction on Friday, saw significantly higher footfalls over the weekend, particularly in Mumbai and its suburbs.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahaan Shetty. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and Krishan Kumar. Critics have praised the film for balancing large-scale patriotism with emotional depth, portraying both the heroism and human vulnerabilities of soldiers on the battlefield.
