Bigg Boss 19 contestant Abhishek Bajaj has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his alleged age-shaming remarks against co-contestant and veteran actress Kunickaa Sadanand. After his eviction from the show, Abhishek told IANS that his statements were being misinterpreted and insisted that he had not intended to insult her. During the show, Abhishek and Kunickaa, who shared a volatile relationship, had been involved in several confrontations that gained traction both inside and outside the Bigg Boss house.

“I don’t understand what the fuss is about. She is 65 years old and a grandmother, and I respectfully called her that. I love my grandmother immensely,” Abhishek said, defending himself. He claimed that Kunickaa often demands attention and refuses to be questioned by other housemates. “She wants all of us to only listen to her and never talk back. But this isn’t an old-age home where we’re supposed to take care of her,” he added.

The controversy erupted after a heated argument over household duties assigned by Captain Mridul Tiwari. Kunickaa was upset with his decision to save Abhishek and Ashnoor Kaur despite repeated rule violations, which led to other contestants being nominated. During the confrontation, Abhishek mocked her by singing “Dadi Amma, Dadi Amma, Maan Jao,” sparking outrage from fans who labelled his behaviour as ageist and disrespectful.

Host Salman Khan addressed the incident during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode, reprimanding Abhishek for crossing boundaries. Fellow contestants, including Gaurav Khanna and Pranit More, also tried to reason with him, but Abhishek stood firm. Meanwhile, tensions further escalated when Kunickaa retaliated by calling Abhishek a “33-year-old buddha” and making comments about his friendship with the younger Ashnoor Kaur, adding fuel to the ongoing drama between the two.

Once allies, Kunickaa and Abhishek’s friendship deteriorated after she learned that he had spoken negatively about her behind her back. The fallout has split opinions among Bigg Boss viewers, with some accusing Abhishek of arrogance and others defending his blunt honesty. As the season progresses, their feud remains one of the most talked-about storylines within the Bigg Boss 19 house.
