Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla is set for its digital premiere, with the film scheduled to begin streaming on Netflix from June 12, following its theatrical run earlier this year. The announcement was made by the streaming platform through its official social media handle, confirming the film’s arrival on OTT after a moderate box office performance.
The film, which was released in cinemas on April 16, received mixed reviews from audiences and critics but managed to register a steady commercial run. Despite divided responses, Bhooth Bangla maintained decent traction at the box office over its theatrical window, eventually crossing significant revenue milestones during its run.
Directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Akshay Kumar along with Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films, the film brings together a prominent ensemble cast. Alongside Akshay Kumar, the film features performances from Paresh Rawal, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, and Wamiqa Gabbi, blending comedy with supernatural elements.

According to trade tracking data, Bhooth Bangla collected approximately ₹181.93 crore net in India and around ₹269.22 crore worldwide over a 55-day theatrical run. These figures reflect its relatively strong performance in a competitive release window, particularly for a genre-based entertainer.
With its OTT release, the film is expected to reach a wider audience who missed its theatrical run, especially given the continued popularity of horror-comedy content on streaming platforms. The Netflix premiere is also expected to renew discussions around its comedic timing, performances, and visual effects, which were among the most debated aspects during its cinema release.
