Television actor Akanksha Chamola has said she does not plan to remarry after announcing her divorce from actor Gaurav Khanna. Speaking during the Netflix reality show Lock Upp, Akanksha said she intends to live independently and focus on building a life of her own. The actor, who married Gaurav in 2016, announced their separation during the premiere episode of the reality show's second season.
During a conversation with co-contestant Pamela, Akanksha reflected on marrying at a young age and said she was 24 when she entered the relationship. When Pamela suggested that she was still young and could find another partner, Akanksha said she did not want to marry again and believed she was done with marriage. She added that, for the first time, she planned to live neither under her parents' roof nor her husband's and wanted to have a home of her own.
Akanksha said she was looking forward to living independently and described the decision as a new phase in her life. She stated that she intended to live alone and "ride solo" for the foreseeable future. In later episodes of Lock Upp Season 2, the actor also discussed the reasons behind the end of her decade-long marriage while speaking with fellow contestants Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala.

The actor said she had never experienced a strong maternal instinct during her marriage, although she initially remained open to the possibility that her feelings could change. Over time, however, Akanksha said she realised that motherhood was not the path she wanted for herself. According to her, Gaurav had initially accepted that decision, but she suggested that his expectations may have changed over the years, contributing to differences between them.
Akanksha also spoke publicly on the show about her attraction to women, saying she had been in relationships with women before marrying Gaurav. She said she admires women, feels attracted to them and considers them a safe space. Her comments became another widely discussed aspect of her appearance on the reality programme, alongside her disclosures about the end of her marriage and her decision not to have children.
Gaurav had previously spoken about Akanksha's decision not to have children during his appearance on Bigg Boss 19. When questioned about discussing his private life publicly, he said he would continue to support his wife's decision despite personally wanting a family. Gaurav Khanna and Akanksha Chamola married on November 24, 2016, in Kanpur. Akanksha is known for her appearances in television shows including Santoshi Maa, Yeh Hai Aashiqui and Crime Patrol.
