Actor Naga Chaitanya has opened up about why he has not taken on another Hindi film project since his appearance in Laal Singh Chaddha, the 2022 Bollywood adaptation of Forrest Gump. Speaking to the media recently, Chaitanya cited the film’s box office performance as a significant factor influencing his career choices in Hindi cinema.
Chaitanya, who is primarily known for his work in Telugu films, said that while he enjoyed working on Laal Singh Chaddha, the film did not meet commercial expectations at the box office. “The film was a great experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t perform as well as we had hoped,” he remarked. “As an actor, you always weigh opportunities, and the response does play a role in deciding the next steps.”
Despite the setback in Hindi cinema, Chaitanya emphasized that he remains open to exploring diverse roles across languages. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside Bollywood veterans and noted that the experience enriched his acting repertoire. “I learned a lot working with such talented people. Every project adds to your growth, regardless of its commercial outcome,” he added.

The actor also clarified that his primary focus remains on Telugu cinema, where he continues to receive consistent opportunities and strong audience support. He pointed to his recent and upcoming Telugu films as examples of roles that challenge him creatively while resonating with his core fan base. This strategic approach allows him to balance artistic ambition with commercial viability.
Industry analysts note that Chaitanya’s cautious approach toward Hindi films is not uncommon among South actors, who often weigh the risks of cross-industry projects against their established success in regional cinema. While Laal Singh Chaddha provided a platform to reach a pan-Indian audience, its box office performance underscores the unpredictable nature of Bollywood ventures for actors primarily rooted in other industries.
Looking ahead, Chaitanya appears committed to selecting roles that offer both creative fulfillment and audience engagement. He also expressed openness to future Hindi projects that align with his vision and provide meaningful characters. Fans of the actor continue to anticipate his next steps, eager to see how he navigates opportunities across multiple film industries while maintaining his distinctive style and cinematic sensibilities.
