Realme is gearing up to launch its latest smartphone, the Realme 16 5G, in India, following its debut in select global markets earlier this year. The handset will join the brand’s numbered lineup, which currently includes the Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ 5G models. Ahead of its official launch, several key specifications and features of the device have been teased, generating anticipation among tech enthusiasts.
While the exact launch date in India has not been disclosed, the Realme 16 5G is confirmed to go on sale via Flipkart, which has already set up a dedicated microsite for the upcoming handset. The company has yet to reveal official pricing for the Indian market, but analysts expect it to be lower than the starting price of the Realme 16 Pro+ (Rs. 39,999). Globally, the 8GB+256GB variant was priced at VND 11,490,000 (roughly Rs. 40,000), while the 12GB+256GB model retailed at VND 12,490,000 (around Rs. 44,000).
The Realme 16 5G will be available in Air Black and Air White colour options. The device is confirmed to feature a 6.57-inch display with up to 4,200 nits peak brightness, a 3,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate, and 2,160Hz PWM dimming for smooth and responsive screen performance. The handset also carries an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance, along with an AirFlow vapor chamber for heat management covering 6,050 sq mm. The phone measures 8.1mm in thickness and weighs 183 grams.

Under the hood, the global variant of the Realme 16 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The device sports a dual rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel monochrome camera. Realme has also integrated AI-powered features, such as AI Smart Charging and AI Smart Power Saving mode, to enhance battery efficiency.
One of the handset’s standout specifications is its 7,000mAh battery, which supports 60W wired fast charging. Realme claims the device can offer 21.67 hours of WhatsApp messaging, 22.86 hours of Instagram Reels scrolling, up to 22.06 hours of YouTube video playback, or around six days of continuous music playback on a single charge, making it one of the longest-lasting phones in its segment.
The Realme 16 5G appears positioned to compete strongly in the mid-range segment, combining a large battery, responsive display, AI features, and robust build quality. As the launch approaches, consumers are expected to get final confirmation on pricing and availability, giving them a clearer picture of how the device will stack up against rival smartphones in India.
