Lava has launched the Shark 2 Pro 5G in India, adding a new smartphone to its Shark series with a focus on a high-refresh-rate display, a large battery and 5G connectivity. The handset is priced at Rs. 16,699 and is offered in a single configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It is available through Lava-authorised online and offline retail channels, with buyers getting two colour options. The new model joins the existing Shark 2 4G and Shark 2 5G in Lava’s smartphone portfolio.
The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G features a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The higher refresh rate is designed to provide smoother scrolling and animations compared with standard 60Hz displays. The phone also carries an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes, offering additional protection for everyday use. The device is powered by an octa-core Unisoc T8200 chipset and runs Android 16 out of the box.
On the software side, Lava says the smartphone offers a vanilla Android experience without pre-installed bloatware. The company has promised one major Android operating system upgrade along with two years of security updates. The handset also comes with Vayu AI, Lava’s AI-powered chatbot, adding an artificial intelligence-based assistant to the device. The combination of Android 16, the Unisoc processor and 6GB of RAM is aimed at handling everyday applications and multitasking in the phone’s price segment.

For photography, the Shark 2 Pro 5G is equipped with a 50-megapixel AI-assisted rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The phone supports Dual View Video recording, allowing users to capture footage using the front and rear cameras together. It can record video at up to 2K resolution at 30 frames per second. The camera setup is complemented by connectivity features including 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.4, while a USB Type-C port is provided for charging and wired connectivity.
Powering the smartphone is a 6,000mAh battery, which is among the larger capacities available in this segment. The battery supports 18W wired charging. The device also includes up to 6GB of virtual RAM in addition to its physical 6GB RAM, while the internal storage is fixed at 128GB. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is included for biometric authentication. The combination of the large battery, 5G connectivity and 120Hz display forms the main hardware focus of the new Lava smartphone.

Buyers can choose between Akash Blue and Nanda Silver colour options. With Android 16, a 120Hz display, a 50-megapixel rear camera, a 6,000mAh battery and 5G support, the handset expands Lava’s offerings in the sub-Rs. 17,000 smartphone segment.
