Apple is reportedly preparing a refreshed colour lineup for its upcoming flagship devices, the iPhone 18 Pro series, with leaks suggesting the removal of the previously discussed “Cosmic Orange” finish in favour of a new premium shade called “Dark Cherry.”
According to industry reports, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch with four colour options. The highlight among them is said to be Dark Cherry, a deep wine-red tone that is being positioned as the standout aesthetic choice. The shift marks a noticeable design direction change for Apple, which has been experimenting with warmer and more expressive colour palettes in recent iterations.
Alongside Dark Cherry, the lineup is expected to include Light Blue, Silver, and Dark Grey finishes. Light Blue is reportedly inspired by softer tones seen in earlier models, while Silver is expected to maintain a clean, minimalist look similar to previous Pro variants. Dark Grey, meanwhile, is being described as a muted, professional finish aimed at users preferring understated design.

The leak also indicates that Apple may be phasing out the controversial Cosmic Orange shade entirely. Sources suggest that while the orange variant was initially explored as a bold design statement, Apple has shifted toward more refined colour tones for the Pro lineup. Reports from supply chain insiders indicate that the final colour selection is still under internal testing and could change before mass production begins.
Industry commentary has pointed to consistent rumours of a red-based finish for the device over several months. Earlier reports suggested Apple had been experimenting with burgundy and deeper red tones, aligning with the current Dark Cherry speculation. If confirmed, this would continue Apple’s trend of introducing limited-edition-feel colours into its premium tier.
Beyond colour changes, the iPhone 18 Pro is also expected to feature subtle design refinements, including a smaller Dynamic Island cut-out and minor adjustments to the rear camera layout. While the overall design is expected to remain close to the current generation, these incremental updates suggest Apple is focusing on refinement rather than a radical redesign for its next flagship release.
