Google is reportedly developing its next affordable A-series smartphone, the Google Pixel 11a, and a fresh leak has revealed several of its expected specifications, including details about its processor, display, battery, cameras and colour options. The handset, which is expected to succeed the Pixel 10a, is tipped to feature Google's upcoming Tensor G6 chipset and could introduce notable hardware changes aimed at improving performance and connectivity. Although Google has not officially confirmed the device, recent leaks suggest development is well underway.
According to information shared by tipster Mystery Leaks on Telegram, the Pixel 11a carries the internal codename "Formosan" and is expected to be powered by the unannounced Tensor G6 processor, codenamed "Malibu." The chipset is reportedly paired with Google's Titan M3 security chip, continuing the company's focus on device security. The smartphone is also expected to include 8GB of RAM and a 4,870mAh battery, offering a balance of performance and battery life for the mid-range segment.
The leak suggests the Pixel 11a will feature a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (1,080 x 2,424 pixels) display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is tipped to deliver 2,250 nits of HDR brightness and reach a peak brightness of 3,350 nits, making it brighter than previous Pixel A-series models. For comparison, the Pixel 10a offers a maximum peak brightness of 3,000 nits. If accurate, the display upgrade could improve outdoor visibility and HDR viewing performance.

One of the most significant reported changes is Google's move from Samsung's Exynos modem to the MediaTek M90 modem. The switch is expected to improve network stability, connectivity and thermal efficiency—areas where previous Pixel devices received criticism. Reports also indicate that the same modem could be used across the entire Pixel 11 lineup, suggesting Google may standardise its connectivity hardware for the next generation of smartphones.
In terms of cameras, the Pixel 11a is expected to receive a new front-facing sensor internally known as "dokkaebi," although details regarding the rear camera setup have not yet emerged. Google is likely to continue relying on its computational photography software to deliver high-quality imaging despite mid-range hardware. The leak also claims that the Face Unlock system on the Pixel 11 series has been improved, potentially offering faster, more secure and more reliable authentication, particularly in low-light environments.
The Pixel 11a is reportedly expected to launch in four colour options—Obsidian (Black), Olive (Green), Frost (Purple) and Fog (Silver). While earlier reports suggest the flagship Pixel 11 series could debut around August 2026, the more affordable Pixel 11a is expected to be unveiled around March 2027. Google has not officially announced the smartphone or confirmed any of the leaked specifications, so the information should be treated as unofficial until the company makes a formal announcement.
