Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone lineup could see a significant expansion in 2027, with rumours suggesting the company may introduce four models in the Galaxy S27 series instead of the traditional three-device strategy it has followed since the Galaxy S20 generation. Among the expected additions is the purported Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro, which is reportedly being positioned between the Plus and Ultra variants with several premium features borrowed from the top-end model.
According to recent reports, Samsung is testing its Privacy Display technology for both the Galaxy S27 Pro and the rumoured Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra. The feature first appeared on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and is designed to prevent nearby individuals from viewing content displayed on the screen. The technology aims to provide enhanced privacy for users accessing sensitive information in public spaces.
Unlike conventional privacy screen protectors that often reduce brightness and impact image quality, Samsung’s Privacy Display system is integrated directly into the display panel. When activated, it limits viewing angles while maintaining a clear image for the person looking directly at the screen. This allows users to view messages, banking details and other confidential information without worrying about shoulder surfing from people nearby.

The technology is powered by Samsung's proprietary Flex Magic Pixel system, which controls how light is emitted from individual pixels. Under normal conditions, the display functions like a standard premium AMOLED panel, delivering wide viewing angles, accurate colours and high brightness. When privacy mode is enabled, the panel shifts to a narrower light-dispersion pattern, significantly reducing visibility from the sides while preserving readability for the user.
Reports also suggest the Galaxy S27 Pro may feature a 6.47-inch OLED display, a size that Samsung has not previously used in its flagship smartphone range. Industry sources indicate that the company is experimenting with new screen dimensions as it seeks to further differentiate its premium offerings. The device is expected to share several high-end hardware specifications with the Ultra model, although features such as S Pen support may remain exclusive to the top-tier variant.
If the rumours prove accurate, the Galaxy S27 Pro could serve as a bridge between Samsung’s Plus and Ultra models, offering flagship-level performance and premium features at a lower price point than the Ultra. While Samsung has not officially confirmed any details regarding the Galaxy S27 lineup, the reports suggest the company is exploring new ways to segment its flagship portfolio and provide consumers with more choices in the premium smartphone market.
