India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana’s record-breaking achievements in women’s international cricket have been driven by years of discipline, consistency and continuous improvement, according to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Malolan Rangarajan. Mandhana reached the milestone during her 124-run innings against Hong Kong China in the Women’s Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

During the innings, Mandhana surpassed former India captain Mithali Raj’s career tally of 10,868 runs across formats to become the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket. The landmark added another significant achievement to Mandhana’s career, with the batter continuing to maintain a high level of performance across formats and competitions.

Mandhana also moved past former Australia captain Meg Lanning to claim the record for the most international centuries in women’s cricket. At 30, she has also established herself as a successful leader in the Women’s Premier League, guiding RCB to two titles while accumulating 1,023 runs from 35 innings for the franchise.

Rangarajan highlighted Mandhana’s consistency and ability to keep developing as a batter and leader. He noted that her record-breaking milestones were the outcome of the standards she maintains in her preparation and performances over several years. Her approach, he added, has enabled her to remain among the leading players in the sport.

Mandhana’s India teammates also highlighted her leadership qualities and preparation. India seam-bowling all-rounder Arundhati Reddy pointed to the confidence Mandhana brings to the team and her ability to handle pressure, while left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Radha Yadav described her achievements as a proud moment for both the Indian team and RCB.

Mandhana’s latest milestones further underline her standing in women’s international cricket, combining sustained run-scoring with leadership responsibilities. Her performances for India and RCB have also made her one of the prominent figures in the growth of women’s cricket, with teammates and coaches crediting her preparation, composure and consistency for her continued success.
