After a disastrous start to its campaign that saw it relegated to the last of the table, the 5-time champions Mumbai Indians seem to be on the path of reviving its campaign.
First, it was the victory against the table-toppers DC. And last night at the Wankhede, it was the win against SRH. MI is slowly finding its mojo. MI has managed a semblance of turn around in its fortunes not through flamboyance but by playing old-fashioned percentage cricket.
The 4-wicket win against Hyderabad showcased its resilience and its ability to adapt to challenging conditions.

MI's bowlers laid the foundation for the win by restricting SRH to a modest 162/5 on a sluggish pitch. Will Jacks emerged as the standout performer, taking 2/14 in three overs with his off-spin, which proved effective against SRH's left-handed top order. Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult complemented Jacks with disciplined spells, employing slower balls and yorkers to stifle SRH's scoring rate during the middle overs. Bumrah's execution in the death overs ensured SRH couldn't get going in the death overs. His comeback after the mauling from DC's Karun Nair showed why he is a champion bowler.
Chasing 163, MI's batting lineup demonstrated depth and composure. Rohit Sharma, playing as an Impact Player, provided early momentum with a brisk 26 off 16 balls, including three sixes. Will Jacks continued his all-round brilliance with a 26-ball 36, while Suryakumar Yadav contributed 26 off 15 balls, attacking SRH's spinners and keeping the scoreboard ticking. Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya steadied the chase in the final overs, with Tilak's unbeaten 21 sealing the win with 11 balls to spare. As you can see, nobody has been extraordinary. But none was ordinary, too. That is the secret of team cricket.
MI's decision to bat second on a pitch favouring chasers proved crucial. It managed its resources all through the game effectively. A big knock from Rohit Sharma would make MI even more dangerous going forward. The inclusion of Jacks as a bowler and batter added balance to the side.
Now, MI has three wins, and has moved to the seventh spot in the table, A couple of more victories, it will be back in familiar territory.
