South Africa secured a comfortable 43-run victory over Zimbabwe in the fourth match of the Namibia T20I Tri-Series, booking their place in the final against Namibia. Lhuan-dre Pretorius was the standout performer, producing a career-best 94 to help South Africa post 185/7 in their 20 overs. The result marked South Africa’s second victory over Zimbabwe in the tournament and ensured their progression to the title clash.

Sent in to bat, South Africa made a strong start, with Pretorius anchoring the innings through an aggressive 51-ball knock. The opener struck 12 fours and three sixes but narrowly missed out on what would have been his maiden T20I century. His innings provided South Africa with the platform needed to reach a competitive total despite Zimbabwe managing to take wickets regularly during the latter stages of the innings.

Pretorius received important support from Dewald Brevis, who scored 41 from 27 deliveries. The partnership helped South Africa maintain a strong scoring rate and build pressure on Zimbabwe’s bowling attack. Although Zimbabwe fought back by picking up wickets towards the end, South Africa finished with 185/7, leaving their opponents with a demanding target in the second innings.

Zimbabwe’s chase never gained sustained momentum as South Africa’s bowlers repeatedly struck at crucial stages. The visitors were eventually bowled out for 142 in 17.4 overs, falling 43 runs short of the target. Captain Sikandar Raza offered some resistance with 45 from 33 balls, while Newman Nyamhuri contributed 27, but Zimbabwe could not produce the partnerships required to seriously challenge the South African total.

Bjorn Fortuin led the South African bowling effort with an impressive 4/24 from 3.4 overs, while Duan Jansen claimed 3/21. The pair shared seven wickets and consistently disrupted Zimbabwe’s chase, preventing the batting side from building meaningful momentum. Their combined performance ensured that South Africa remained in control throughout the second half of the match.

Pretorius was named Player of the Match for his match-winning contribution and said he was satisfied with the team’s victory despite missing out on a century. He explained that South Africa had targeted a score of 200 after 14 overs but ultimately prioritised securing the win. South Africa will now face Namibia in the final, with Pretorius’ form providing a major boost to the side ahead of the decisive match.
