The inaugural Jakarta International Championship, a premium $2 million event on The International Series, tees off from October 2-5 at the scenic Damai Indah Golf's PIK Course, promising high-stakes action as players vie for crucial rankings points toward the LIV Golf League.
Leading India's formidable 11-player contingent is Gaganjeet Bhullar, a 36-year-old veteran with an unmatched record in Indonesia, boasting five Asian Tour victories on Indonesian soil, including three Indonesia Open titles—the most by any player—and a recent wire-to-wire triumph at the 2023 BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE, where he finished at a stunning 24-under par. Bhullar, who represented India at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has shown consistent form this season, making cuts in all four International Series events and securing a T14 at the Morocco leg.
Joining Bhullar are seasoned pros like Khalin Joshi, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Rahil Gangjee, and S.S.P. Chawrasia, alongside rising talents such as Karandeep Kochhar, who finished runner-up to Bhullar at the 2023 Indonesian Masters and recently notched a T14 at the Mandiri Indonesian Open. Kochhar, building momentum with strong showings on the Asian Development Tour including a runner-up at Morocco Rising Stars, expressed enthusiasm for the venue: "The golf course is in excellent shape again, and my game feels good after solid weeks on various tours."
The PIK Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and dubbed "The Spirit of the Sea" for its dramatic marshlands, native trees, and proximity to the Java Sea, has hosted major events like the Indonesia Open, offering a challenging yet picturesque test just 30 minutes from Jakarta's airport.
Adding star power is Anthony Kim, the three-time PGA Tour winner and recent LIV Golf wild card, who was relegated after the 2025 season and now seeks redemption through The International Series pathway. The 40-year-old American reflected on his journey: "At 40, I realized we're blessed to travel the world and play in amazing places like Jakarta.
This is not pressure; it's a blessing." Backed by the Jakarta government to promote the city as a global golf destination, the tournament underscores Indonesia's growing stature in professional golf, with over 150 top players competing for glory and a shot at LIV promotion.
