India stormed into the men's cricket gold medal match at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the semi-final at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin. India posted 169/7 in 20 overs before bowling Sri Lanka out for just 45 in 9.5 overs. The victory sets up a summit clash against Pakistan on Saturday, with India producing a dominant all-round performance in the semi-final.
Ishan Kishan was the standout performer with an unbeaten 80 off 46 balls, hitting five sixes and four fours. His innings provided the foundation for India's total on a challenging pitch and helped the team recover strongly through the middle and latter stages of the innings. Kishan remained at the crease until the end of India's 20 overs, ensuring the team finished with a competitive score.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also played an important role at the top of the order, scoring 38 from 21 deliveries to give India a fast start. His aggressive innings helped India build early momentum before Sri Lanka's bowlers made inroads. Kishan then carried the innings forward and played the key finishing role as India reached 169/7.

Sri Lanka's chase never developed as India's bowlers repeatedly struck. Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma claimed two wickets each as Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals. The innings eventually ended at 45 in 9.5 overs, leaving India with a 124-run victory and completing a comprehensive performance in the second semi-final.
Abhishek Sharma provided the final blow by taking two wickets in two balls to bring the Sri Lankan innings to an end. The fielding effort also contributed to Sri Lanka's collapse, with India completing multiple run-outs during the chase. Sri Lanka struggled to establish any partnership capable of challenging India's total and were eventually bowled out well before the completion of their allotted 20 overs.
India's victory means the team will now face Pakistan in the Asian Games men's cricket gold medal match on Saturday. The result gives India an opportunity to compete for the gold medal after a convincing semi-final win, while Sri Lanka will play the other semi-finalist in the bronze medal contest. Ishan Kishan's unbeaten 80 and India's disciplined bowling attack proved decisive in securing the place in the final.
