The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has named a 23-member squad for the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025, to be held in Bahrain. The team, selected based on standout performances at the 6th U-17 Junior Boys and Girls National Boxing Championship 2025, is currently training at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NS NIS) in Patiala until October 20. Gold medallists from the nationals secured direct entry, while silver medallists were designated as reserves.
The squad includes promising talents who shone at the Asian U-17 Championships in July 2025, where India won 43 medals and finished second overall, underscoring the country’s rising prominence in youth boxing. Notable athletes include gold medallists Dhruv Kharb, Udham Singh Raghav, Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari. The team, evenly split with seven boys and seven girls, is supported by six coaches, two physiotherapists, and a doctor to ensure comprehensive preparation.
BFI President Ajay Singh highlighted the squad’s potential, stating, “Our young boxers have shown they can compete with Asia’s best, delivering strong results at national and continental levels. This camp will sharpen their skills to make them serious medal contenders in Bahrain.” Led by head coaches Vinod Kumar (Boys U-17) and Jitender Raj Singh (Girls U-17), the team is focused on building on recent successes to challenge Asia’s boxing powerhouses.
