Royal Challengers Bengaluru spinner Shreyanka Patil described her maiden five-wicket haul in the Women’s Premier League as a “roller-coaster ride” after delivering a match-winning performance against Gujarat Giants on Friday. The off-spinner returned with outstanding figures of 5 for 23, playing a decisive role in RCB’s 32-run victory at the DY Patil Stadium.
Patil said the turning point of the match came earlier during RCB’s innings, when Radha Yadav and Richa Ghosh rescued the team from a precarious position. With RCB struggling at 43 for 4, the duo stitched together a crucial 105-run partnership for the fifth wicket, giving the side a competitive total and renewed belief. Radha scored a composed 66 off 47 balls, while Richa added a brisk 44 from 28 deliveries.
Reflecting on the performance, Patil credited Radha’s innings for shifting the momentum. She said the partnership gave the bowlers the confidence to attack despite the expected impact of dew later in the evening. According to Patil, the bowling unit executed its plans well under challenging conditions, which ultimately made the difference.

The 21-year-old also opened up about her personal journey, revealing that her return to form followed a difficult period away from the game. Patil said being sidelined from cricket for 14 months was mentally tough, but consistent preparation over the past few months helped her regain rhythm and confidence. She added that her natural drift, turn, and bounce make her a wicket-taking bowler, a role she has always aspired to own.
RCB captain Smriti Mandhana praised the middle-order stand, calling it “really special”, and said the team backed Radha Yadav in a role she has successfully played at the domestic level. Mandhana also lauded the bowling attack’s composure while admitting there is room for improvement in fielding and middle-order stability.
