Sunrisers Hyderabad’s rising batting talent Salil Arora has drawn high praise from former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar after a blistering match-winning cameo against Mumbai Indians in the IPL, where he played a decisive role in a high-scoring chase at the Wankhede.
Arora, making a strong impression in his debut IPL season, smashed an unbeaten 30 off just 10 balls, helping SRH seal a six-wicket victory while successfully chasing a massive target of 244. His innings proved crucial as Sunrisers Hyderabad extended their winning streak and strengthened their position in the tournament.
The defining phase of the chase came in the final overs when SRH still required quick runs. After the dismissal of Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arora walked in with intent alongside set batter Heinrich Klaasen. He immediately shifted momentum with fearless stroke play against some of the most experienced bowlers in world cricket.
He began with a boundary off Trent Boult, followed by an authoritative six off Jasprit Bumrah, showcasing his ability to take on elite death bowling without hesitation. He later continued his assault against Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, adding both boundaries and a six to tilt the game decisively in SRH’s favour.
Sanjay Bangar, speaking on broadcast commentary, lauded Arora’s composure and clarity under pressure. He highlighted the batter’s ability to stay still, assess the situation quickly, and execute high-impact shots in a very short span of deliveries—an increasingly valued trait in modern T20 cricket.
Arora’s innings featured two fours and three sixes, striking at a remarkable 300 strike rate, while Klaasen’s dominant knock at the other end ensured SRH completed the chase comfortably in 18.4 overs. Together, they dismantled a strong MI bowling attack and delivered one of the most explosive finishes of the season.
A ₹1.5 crore signing, Arora has quickly established himself as a fearless middle-order finisher, building on his domestic reputation in Punjab cricket. His breakthrough performance further reinforces Sunrisers Hyderabad’s aggressive batting philosophy, which continues to produce high-tempo, impact-driven cricket in the IPL.
