Rajasthan Royals secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their Indian Premier League 2026 clash in Guwahati, with captain Rajat Patidar lauding the match-winning performance of RR’s young star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The high-scoring encounter saw Rajasthan chase down a target of 202 with relative ease, extending their unbeaten run in the tournament and handing RCB their first defeat of the season.
Chasing 202, Rajasthan Royals were propelled by a sensational knock from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed 78 runs off just 26 deliveries in a blistering display of power-hitting. He was well supported by Dhruv Jurel, who remained unbeaten on 81, as the duo dismantled the RCB bowling attack. Their aggressive approach ensured RR raced to 97/1 within the powerplay, effectively putting the match beyond Bengaluru’s reach early in the chase.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar acknowledged the impact of Rajasthan’s batting, particularly Sooryavanshi’s dominance in the early overs. He credited the youngster for shifting the momentum decisively in RR’s favour during the powerplay, noting that the aggressive start proved to be the defining factor in the outcome of the game.

Despite the loss, Patidar found positives in RCB’s batting effort, especially their recovery from an early collapse. Bengaluru had struggled initially, losing wickets at regular intervals to slump to 62/4 and later 94/6. However, a composed innings from Patidar, who scored 63 off 40 balls, along with a late cameo from Venkatesh Iyer, helped the team post a competitive total of 201/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Rajasthan’s chase was further strengthened by a crucial 108-run partnership between Sooryavanshi and Jurel, which laid the foundation for a comfortable finish. Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with an unbeaten 24, ensuring the Royals reached the target in just 18 overs, showcasing their batting depth and composure under pressure.
The victory marked Rajasthan Royals’ fourth consecutive win in the season, underlining their strong form and balanced squad performance. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will look to regroup and address key learnings from the defeat as the tournament progresses, with Patidar emphasizing the importance of building on positives despite the setback.
