Gujarat Titan's IPL season this year has been headlined by Sais, as it were.
In the bowling department, it has been Sai Kishore. Its batting has been spearheaded by the solidity of southpaw opener Sai Sudharsan, who also had terrific 2024 season, impelling GT to retain the 24-year-old bespectacled batter for Rs 8.5 crore.
In 2025, Sai Sudharsan, in 3 innings already has 2 fifties (72 against MI and 65 against PBKS) and had near one against RCB last night. He scored 49, narrowly missing out on another half-century. His consistency with the bat has been a key factor in Gujarat Titans' strong start to the season.
Sai Sudharsan, with a total of 186 runs in his kitty, currently sits at No. 2 in the Orange Cap standings --- behind LSG's Nicholas Pooran --- highlighting his impact in the tournament.
Sudharsan's batting underlines the fact that in T20 it need not be all slam bang. He mixes the old clichéd caution with aggression. But there is no discernible weakness to his approach as he plays both spin and pace with aplomb. His ability to build partnerships and score under pressure has made him a vital asset for the team. Against RCB in its home den, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler added 75 off just 47 balls. After the early fall of Shubman Gill, this partnership is what made the chase a walk in the park for GT eventually. Sudharsan's composure and cool approach at one end helped Buttler to go hell for leather at the other end.
Sai Sudharsan has already turned out for India, and if his form continues, he will be in the reckoning for a top slot in an already crowded lineup.
But as they say, the more the merrier.
