Yashasvi Jaiswal delivered a stunning reminder of his white-ball prowess with a scintillating century for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, guiding his team to a four-wicket victory over Haryana on Sunday. Playing only his second match of the season, the left-hander rose to the challenge in a daunting 235-run chase during the Super League stage at the DY Patil Academy.
Opening the innings, Jaiswal set the tone with a commanding display of strokeplay and composure. He brought up his hundred in just 48 balls, keeping Mumbai well ahead of the required run rate throughout the chase. His knock ensured that the target was never out of reach, as Mumbai completed the pursuit in a remarkable 17.3 overs.
The 23-year-old scored 101 runs, striking 16 fours and a six, relying more on timing and placement than brute force. The century marked his first for Mumbai in the tournament and the fourth T20 hundred of his professional career, underlining his consistency in the shortest format of the game.

The innings carried added significance for Jaiswal, who has not featured in India’s T20I setup for over a year despite being part of the 2024 World Cup-winning squad as a reserve opener. While he has cemented his place in the Test side, opportunities in limited-overs cricket have been limited, making this performance a strong statement of intent.
Earlier, Haryana posted an imposing 234 for 3 after choosing to bat first. Captain Ankit Kumar anchored the innings with a fluent 89, while Nishant Sindhu remained unbeaten on 63. Quick contributions from Arsh Ranga and Samant Jakhar helped Haryana cross the 230-run mark.
Mumbai’s reply, however, was dominated by Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan, who dismantled the bowling attack with an aggressive partnership. Sarfaraz smashed 64 off just 25 balls, as their 88-run stand sealed one of the highest successful chases in the competition’s history and reinforced Mumbai’s credentials in the tournament.
