Teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi created history during the first T20 International against Zimbabwe by becoming the youngest player to score a T20I half-century. The left-handed batter reached the milestone in just 18 balls, surpassing the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar for the youngest Indian to register a T20I fifty. His explosive knock gave India a flying start in their chase of 126 runs at the Harare Sports Club on Thursday.

Opening the innings, Sooryavanshi attacked Zimbabwe's bowlers from the outset, finding boundaries consistently and maintaining an aggressive scoring rate. He brought up his maiden international half-century in only 18 deliveries, showcasing fearless stroke play against both pace and spin. However, his innings came to an end on the very next ball after reaching the landmark, bringing a memorable cameo to a close.

Following Sooryavanshi's dismissal, Shreyas Iyer joined Ishan Kishan at the crease as India continued their pursuit of the modest target. The early breakthroughs prevented the hosts from building substantial partnerships throughout the innings.

Zimbabwe's best resistance came from Wessly Madhevere, who top-scored with 39 runs from 34 deliveries, including three boundaries and a six. Despite his efforts, India's bowlers maintained control through the middle and death overs, ensuring the hosts could only post a below-par total on a pitch that offered assistance to both seamers and batters.
