Rohit Rajpal has been appointed as India’s Chef de Mission for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, according to sources within the Indian Olympic Association. The multi-sport event is scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 2 and will feature athletes from across the Commonwealth nations competing in various disciplines.
Rajpal, who currently serves as India’s Davis Cup captain, will lead the Indian contingent during the Games and oversee coordination between athletes, officials, and event organizers. The chef de mission plays a key administrative and leadership role during major international sporting events, ensuring smooth operations for the national delegation throughout the competition.
The Indian Olympic Association has also reportedly finalized other senior appointments for the Games. Ravi Bengani has been named Deputy Chef de Mission, while Vandana Rao and Rahul Swami will accompany the Indian contingent as general team managers. IOA president P. T. Usha will be part of the senior leadership delegation alongside CEO Raghuram Iyer and Vignesh Vengalil Ujjwal.

Rajpal is a well-known figure in Indian tennis and has been associated with the country’s Davis Cup program for several years. India has traditionally performed strongly at the Commonwealth Games, particularly in sports such as wrestling, badminton, boxing, shooting, and weightlifting. Preparations for the Glasgow edition are expected to intensify in the coming weeks as sports federations finalize athlete selections and training schedules ahead of the international competition.
