Pretoria Capitals booked a spot in the final of SA20 Season Four with a commanding seven-wicket victory over table-toppers Sunrisers Eastern Cape in Qualifier 1 at Kingsmead on Wednesday, riding on outstanding performances from young stars Bryce Parsons and Dewald Brevis.
After winning the toss, Sunrisers Eastern Cape opted to bat first but were never able to fully capitalise, thanks to a disciplined bowling display led by Parsons. The left-arm all-rounder produced a match-defining spell of 3 for 10, applying pressure through the middle overs and preventing Sunrisers from accelerating. Despite a few late contributions, the defending champions were restricted to a competitive but chaseable total of 170 for 7.
Chasing 171, Pretoria Capitals suffered an early setback but quickly regained control through a composed and confident partnership between Parsons and Brevis. Parsons anchored the innings with a mature knock of 60 off 44 balls, striking four boundaries and two sixes while rotating the strike effectively. His calm presence allowed Brevis to play with freedom at the other end.

Brevis, often dubbed “Baby AB” for his explosive batting style, lived up to the nickname with a breathtaking 75 off just 38 deliveries. The right-hander smashed seven towering sixes and four boundaries, dismantling the Sunrisers’ bowling attack and shifting the momentum decisively in Pretoria’s favour. The duo added a crucial 91-run stand that virtually sealed the contest.
Pretoria Capitals eventually crossed the finish line with several overs to spare, underlining their dominance in high-pressure knockout conditions. The win sends Sourav Ganguly-owned Pretoria Capitals straight into the SA20 final, giving them valuable rest and preparation time ahead of the title clash.
The result also highlighted the growing impact of young domestic and international talent in the league, with Parsons’ all-round brilliance and Brevis’ fearless batting emerging as standout features of the season. Sunrisers Eastern Cape, meanwhile, will get another chance to reach the final through Qualifier 2.
