India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has dismissed concerns over his prolonged lean patch, insisting he is "not out of form, definitely out of runs" following another modest score in the third match against South Africa on December 14, 2025. Yadav contributed 12 runs off 11 balls before being dismissed by Lungi Ngidi during India's successful chase of 118, which secured a seven-wicket victory and a 2-1 series lead. The knock extended his sequence of low scores to 21 innings, barring the exceptions of 75 against Bangladesh in October 2024 and an unbeaten 47 against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Yadav expressed confidence in his preparation, stating he has been "batting beautifully in the nets" and that runs will flow when due. His average in T20Is for 2025 has dipped to around 14.20, a stark contrast to his career strike rate exceeding 150 and his reputation as a dynamic 360-degree player. Despite the personal struggles, Yadav shifted focus to the team's resilient response after a defeat in the second T20I.
Yadav praised the collective effort, noting how the side returned to basics and held productive meetings, particularly among the bowlers. Player of the Match Arshdeep Singh echoed this by crediting adherence to fundamentals for his impactful spell, while spinner Varun Chakravarthy highlighted open discussions that facilitated the turnaround. South Africa captain Aiden Markram acknowledged India's superior execution under seaming conditions.

The victory in chilly Dharamshala conditions demonstrated India's bowling depth and adaptability, restricting the visitors to 117 despite Markram's fighting half-century. Abhishek Sharma's aggressive start in the chase further eased pressure on the middle order.
With two matches remaining in the five-match series, Yadav remains optimistic about regaining fluency ahead of upcoming commitments, including the 2026 T20 World Cup. The captain's defiant stance underscores his belief in process over immediate results amid growing scrutiny.
