Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) produced a dramatic turnaround in their IPL 2026 campaign, defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by nine runs via the DLS method in a rain-affected last-over thriller at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday. The victory snapped LSG’s six-match losing streak and injected fresh momentum into their season.
Batting first after being asked to set a target, LSG were powered by a sensational innings from Mitchell Marsh, who smashed 111 off just 56 deliveries. His knock, featuring nine boundaries and as many sixes, anchored the innings and shifted momentum firmly in LSG’s favour. Marsh formed crucial partnerships, including a 95-run stand with Arshin Kulkarni and a 70-run alliance with Nicholas Pooran, ensuring LSG posted a commanding 209 for 3.
Captain Rishabh Pant provided the late fireworks with a blistering unbeaten 32 off just 10 balls, pushing LSG past the 200-mark. However, repeated rain interruptions reduced the contest to a 19-over-per-side affair, forcing a revised DLS target of 213 for RCB.

In response, RCB fought hard but fell short, finishing at 203 for 6. Skipper Rajat Patidar led the chase with a well-crafted 61 off 31 balls, keeping his side in contention for much of the innings. However, LSG’s bowling attack held firm under pressure, with Prince Yadav starring with figures of 3 for 33, while Shahbaz Ahmed chipped in with 2 for 33 to derail the Bengaluru chase.
RCB also saw contributions from Krunal Pandya and Josh Hazlewood, who picked up a wicket each, but they were unable to contain LSG’s early scoring surge or fully control the required run rate in the final overs. The interruptions further complicated their chase, adding pressure in a high-stakes finish.
The result has important implications for the IPL 2026 points table, with LSG gaining crucial points that could help them climb out of the bottom position and re-enter playoff contention discussions. RCB, meanwhile, missed an opportunity to strengthen their position in the standings after a closely contested match that ultimately slipped away in the final phase.
