Jasprit Bumrah has retained his position as the world’s No. 1 Test bowler in the latest ICC Test rankings released on Wednesday. The Indian fast bowler continues to dominate the rankings with 879 rating points, reaffirming his status as one of the leading red-ball bowlers in international cricket. Despite facing a difficult campaign in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 with the Mumbai Indians, Bumrah’s performances in Test cricket have ensured that he remains at the top of the global standings.
The latest rankings also highlighted the strength of India’s bowling unit in the longest format. Mohammed Siraj is currently the second-highest ranked Indian bowler, occupying the 12th position in the ICC Test bowling charts. Spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav follow closely behind in 14th and 15th positions, respectively, reflecting India’s depth in bowling resources across conditions.
India also has strong representation in the ICC Test batting rankings. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal holds the eighth spot with 750 rating points after a series of consistent performances in recent Test matches. Shubman Gill climbed one place to ninth position with 730 points, continuing his rise as one of India’s most dependable batters across formats. Both players are regarded as key pillars of India’s future batting lineup.

At the top of the Test batting rankings, former England captain Joe Root remains the world’s highest-ranked batter with 880 points. Fellow England batter Harry Brook is placed second, while Australian stars Travis Head and Steve Smith occupy the next two spots. The rankings continue to reflect the strong competition among leading Test-playing nations.
Bumrah’s continued dominance in the ICC rankings comes despite the Mumbai Indians enduring a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign. The five-time champions have already been knocked out of playoff contention, with inconsistency affecting their performances throughout the season. While Bumrah has remained one of the side’s key bowlers, the team has struggled collectively in crucial matches during the tournament.
The latest ICC rankings once again underline Bumrah’s consistency and influence in Test cricket over the past few years. His ability to deliver in different conditions and against top-quality opposition has made him a central figure in India’s pace attack. With important international assignments ahead, including upcoming Test series, India will continue to rely heavily on Bumrah’s experience and match-winning ability in the longest format of the game.
