India U19 moved within touching distance of lifting the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 after England’s batting collapsed in the final at Harare. Chasing a massive target, England were reduced to 255/7 after 33 overs despite an early show of intent. India’s bowlers capitalised on mounting pressure as wickets fell in quick succession.
England’s aggressive “Bazball”-style approach initially threatened India, but the momentum shifted dramatically after Ben Dawkins’ half-century. The English side lost four wickets for just six runs in the space of 15 deliveries, derailing their chase. Caleb Falconer emerged as the lone hope, striking a rapid half-century off just 26 balls.
Earlier in the match, India produced a historic batting display led by 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The prodigy smashed a sensational 175 off just 80 balls, powering India to a mammoth 411/9. This total is the highest ever recorded in a knockout match of the U19 World Cup.

Suryavanshi also rewrote the record books by registering the fastest century in a U19 World Cup final. He became the first batter to score 150 or more runs in the tournament’s summit clash. His innings laid the foundation for India’s commanding position in the match.
India received valuable support from captain Ayush Mhatre, who scored 53 off 51 balls, along with Abhigyan Kundu’s brisk 40 and Kanishk Chouhan’s late 37. Their combined efforts ensured relentless scoreboard pressure on England. With England seven wickets down, India are firmly in control and closing in on world champions status.
