Cricket Australia (CA) released a statement on Saturday, calling the act “deeply distressing.” CA said, “Two members of the Australian Women’s Team were approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist while walking to a café in Indore. The matter was reported by team security to police, who are handling the matter.” The Australian team’s security manager, Danny Simmons, filed the official report, and local authorities have initiated an investigation.
Reacting to the incident, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia strongly condemned the act, terming it “unacceptable and deeply regrettable.” He said, “It is a very condemnable but stray incident. India is known for its hospitality and care. We appreciate the prompt action of the Madhya Pradesh Police and will revisit safety protocols to tighten security further. We stand firmly against such behavior, which should never happen in our country.”

The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) also issued a public apology to the Australian team, describing the episode as “deeply distressing and unfortunate.” In its statement, the MPCA expressed solidarity with the affected players and stressed that “no woman should ever have to endure such trauma.”
The association added it will cooperate fully with investigators and review whether the players had requested security cover during their outing. The incident has sparked concern over player safety protocols ahead of upcoming World Cup fixtures in the city.
