India’s emphatic victory in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup final not only created cricketing history but also produced an emotional moment for Indian all-rounder Axar Patel, whose heartfelt social media post celebrating the triumph with his family quickly captured the internet’s attention. Sharing a photo with his wife and young son, Patel described the win as an unforgettable experience made even more special by his child watching him play live for the first time.
Patel took to the social media platform X to express his emotions following India’s successful title defense. “Winning the World Cup is something you dream about as a kid. But today felt even more special knowing our little Haksh was in the stands, watching his dad play for the first time,” he wrote, adding that the moment would remain close to his heart forever. The post quickly went viral, drawing widespread reactions from fans and fellow cricketers.
India secured a dominant 96-run victory over New Zealand national cricket team in the final, becoming the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil. The triumph also made India the first side to win consecutive titles and the only team to lift the trophy three times, adding to their earlier victories in 2007 and 2024.

Batting first after New Zealand chose to field, India produced a commanding performance with the bat. A rapid half-century from Abhishek Sharma, who scored 52 off just 21 balls, set the tone with a 98-run opening partnership with Sanju Samson. Samson later added a century stand with Ishan Kishan, who struck 54 off 25 balls, as India surged past the 200-run mark in the 16th over. A late flourish from Shivam Dube helped India post a massive 255/5 — the highest total ever recorded in a T20 World Cup final.
In reply, New Zealand struggled to keep up with the steep target. Despite a fighting half-century from Tim Seifert, India’s bowlers kept striking at regular intervals. Patel and Jasprit Bumrah played key roles in reducing the opposition to 72/5, while a brief resistance from Daryl Mitchell and captain Mitchell Santner proved insufficient. New Zealand were eventually bowled out for 159, sealing India’s historic victory and sparking celebrations across the country.
The triumph further cemented India’s dominance in the shortest format of the game, while Patel’s emotional post offered a glimpse into the personal moments that make sporting achievements even more meaningful for players and their families.
