India's men's recurve archery team won the silver medal at the Asian Games 2026 after losing 1-5 to defending champions South Korea in the final on Friday. Dhiraj Bommadevara, Yashdeep Bhoge and Neeraj Chauhan started the summit clash strongly but were unable to maintain their early momentum against a Korean side featuring Lee Woo-seok, Kim Je-deok and Kim Woo-jin. The Indians eventually went down 56-56, 50-57, 54-56 in the three-set contest. India began the final with an opportunity to take control after South Korea opened with an 8. However, the first set ended level at 56-56, leaving both teams with one set point.
The Indian trio had started positively and matched the defending champions' scoring, but the inability to convert the early advantage into a set win meant the contest remained evenly poised after the opening exchange. South Korea then took command in the second set by producing a sequence of accurate shots. The Korean archers struck 10s with their first three arrows, immediately putting pressure on the Indian team. India's shooters struggled to match that consistency, with their arrows spreading across the target and the team failing to register a single 10 in the set. South Korea won the second set 57-50 to move ahead in the final.
The decisive third set also went South Korea's way, with the defending champions winning 56-54. India's hopes of extending the contest were hurt when Neeraj Chauhan registered a 7 with his fourth arrow. That dropped score proved costly as the Korean trio maintained their composure and finished the set strongly to secure the gold medal. The 1-5 result gave South Korea another Asian Games men's recurve team title, while India had to settle for silver. The Indian men's team had reached the final after producing a dominant performance against Iran in the semifinal earlier on Friday.

Bommadevara, Bhoge and Chauhan defeated the Iranian team 6-0 to book their place in the gold-medal contest. The semifinal victory ensured India would leave the men's recurve team event with a medal, although the final result meant the team finished one step below the top of the podium. The men's silver came on a day of strong results for Indian recurve archery at the Asian Games. Earlier on Friday, India's women's recurve team defeated South Korea to win a historic maiden Asian Games gold medal. The result was particularly significant given South Korea's record in the event and its status as a dominant force in Olympic and Asian Games archery.
India's women's team produced a major upset to deny the Korean side another title. India's mixed recurve team also claimed a silver medal later in the day, adding to the country's medal haul in archery. The results reflected a productive day for India's recurve archers, with the men's and mixed teams finishing with silver medals while the women's team secured gold. The men's team of Bommadevara, Bhoge and Chauhan will return from the event with a silver after their final loss to South Korea, having earlier completed a convincing 6-0 semifinal victory over Iran.
