Players from the India national cricket team celebrated their historic triumph in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 with emotional posts across social media after defeating the New Zealand national cricket team in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The victory not only secured India’s third T20 World Cup title but also marked the first time any team successfully defended the trophy, following their triumph in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.
Led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, India defeated New Zealand by a massive 96-run margin, making it one of the most dominant finals in the tournament’s history. The victory also made India the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil and the first to lift the trophy three times, having previously won the inaugural edition in the ICC World Twenty20 2007.
Suryakumar Yadav took to Instagram to share his pride in leading the team. In an emotional message, he described the victory as a dream fulfilled for more than a billion Indians. The captain also posted a nostalgic image on X, comparing a picture from his early playing days with one of him holding the World Cup trophy, writing that he was “so happy for this guy today".

Young batter Tilak Varma expressed gratitude for being part of the championship-winning squad, calling it the realisation of his childhood dream. Teammate Rinku Singh also posted a celebratory photo with the trophy and captioned it “God’s Plan". Jai Hind", reflecting the team’s pride after the historic win.
Several other Indian players shared their joy with fans online. Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh posted a celebratory video while holding the trophy, joking that “the first time was so nice, we had to do it twice". Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan shared a picture of the team celebrating the victory with the caption, “This team. C.H.A.M.P.I.O.N.S.” Meanwhile, opener Abhishek Sharma wrote that he was “grateful for this moment” while posting a photograph with the trophy.
The final’s standout performer, Sanju Samson, who was named Player of the Match, shared a picture kissing the trophy and said he had always believed in miracles. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah also reflected on the emotional significance of winning the tournament in Ahmedabad, describing it as a dream journey from aspiring to represent India to making history in his home city. The flood of celebratory posts highlighted the pride and unity within the Indian squad after one of the most memorable achievements in the nation’s cricket history.
